David & Rynn started Caputo Brothers Creamery in 2011, and over the years have developed award-winning cheeses reminiscent of those they fell in love with while traveling and studying in Italy – and now you have the opportunity to join them for an Italian culinary experience of a lifetime!
Travel is known to educate the mind and soul – we believe it should educate the palate as well! Living like an Italian is what this culinary adventure is all about – years of travel through all 20 regions of Italy have allowed the Caputos to design a culinary stroll that will take even the most inexperienced traveler comfortably “off the beaten path” to enjoy the Italy that tourists rarely get to experience. Each trip is designed for travelers to experience these rich cultural traditions through cuisine.
Our small group tours (average group size: 18 people) are not just a memorable vacation, but are full of authentic experiences, friendship, and a reverence for the Italian artisans and food traditions of each region we visit. Each excursion and meal is planned with care to show you the authentic Italy that we love so much.

La Prima Volta with LUCA’s Chef Taylor Mason (May 17-26, 2019)
Sicily & Calabria
Join your favorite local chef – LUCA Lancaster’s Chef Taylor Mason – for a culinary adventure to Sicily & Calabria! On La Prima Volta you’ll be the first to travel alongside Chef Taylor to experience the culinary specialties of these regions. Visiting various food artisans, wineries, producers, and of course – enjoying some amazing meals! We will even spend two days with a Master Chef at the Italian Culinary Institute, learning the science of gelato, crafting pizza, and rolling pasta!

Sicily’s rugged coastline contains amazing natural beauty, but many are unaware that the northwest of Sicily is also a fantastic destination for food lovers! Vast expanses of vineyards and olive groves in this corner of the island produce some of Sicily’s best wines and spectacular olive oils. The sea provides an abundant array of the freshest fish and seafood dishes you’ve ever tasted, and the salt pans of Trapani are a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Combining our two most popular tours! Starting in Lake Garda and traveling south to Parma and ending in Tuscany, this will be a stunning tour both in scenery and food! Home to classics like Chianti wine, tortellini, Parmigiano Reggiano, traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Prosciutto di Parma & Culatello…the list goes on! Traveling through these areas during harvest season is a trip not to be missed! You’ll be led not only by our Caputo Brothers Creamery team, but two of our favorite Pittsburgh chefs will be joining us – Chef Dave Anoia from DiAnoia’s Eatery and Bar Marco’s Chef Justin Steel!

Chioggia, Lake Garda, Lake Como
The beautiful natural scenery of these regions, where Italy meets the Alps, will make for a breathtaking background for our second Fall 2020 culinary adventure! We’ll start in Chioggia on the Venetian Lagoon, working our way west to Valeggio sul Mincio near Lake Garda, and finishing on Lake Como in the Lombardia region.

Summertime on the lakes, starting on Lake Como, then to the charming hamlet of Valeggio sul Mincio near Lake Garda. ending in the fishing town of Chioggia, on the Venetian Lagoon.
Due Costa (June 29-July 8, 2021)
Amalfi, Matera, Puglia
Due Costa (“two coasts”) begins on Italy’s western coast, on the Sorrentine Peninsula, then traveling inland to the ancient cave town of MAtera, ending on the eastern coast in stunning Puglia. A perfect summer vacation!
