A beautiful, sunny day in Italy is a blessing on any day when you’re on vacation…but especially when you are taking a private boat ride to Isola di Capri!
After breakfast, we boarded our private boats in Massa Lubrense and headed for Capri. Our captains, Giovanni and Antonio, had excellent maritime skills that were only outdone by their hospitality and storytelling. We motored to Capri, circumnavigating the island on a perfect day. Along the way, our captains detailed each grotto, landmark, and statue. For many, the opportunity to dive off the boat and swim in the cove was too much to resist!
After a while (and a goat sighting – how did they get on that cliff?), we passed the Grotto Azzurra (the Blue Grotto – unfortunately closed due to choppy surf) and arrived at the Marina Grande. All disembarked and enjoyed the culinary delights of the island, hiked to the top, or simply enjoyed the day with a gelato. Afterwards, we headed back (but squeezed in one more swim!) and arrived safely at our marina. The day was capped off with an outstanding dinner at Pasquale’s B&B, serving “cucina casareccia” – truly homemade local food. Best mussels ever!
