This week we’re offering a really special recipe in honor of yesterday—Mother’s Day. If you’ve ever joined us at one of our Farm Table Dinners, you may have enjoyed some of Rynn’s mom, Brenda’s, homemade sweet tea. It’s always a favorite amongst dinner guests and everyone asks—how does she make it?!
We knew we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have her (and her recipe!) join us on our blog today, so sit back, relax, and enjoy!
To make this recipe, you will need:
7 cups of water
4 family size tea bags
2 cups of sugar (after all, it is called sweet tea)
1 gallon pitcher
Heat water, either in a kettle or a saucepan, until hot–but not boiling. While water is heating, add 2 cups of sugar to the pitcher. Pour heated water over sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add tea bags and steep (let stand) for 15-20 minutes. Remove tea bags, add cold tap water until pitcher is full. Add ice and enjoy. Add lemons if you prefer once tea has cooled.
Tips for Sweet Tea Success:
Never boil tea. It brings out the bitterness in the tea.
Dissolve sugar while water is hot and prior to adding tea bags.
Make sure the pitcher you select can withstand heat or it might crack!
